ALD’s core expertise lies in the comprehensive acoustic design of loudspeakers. The starting point is not an individual driver, component or crossover, but the way the entire loudspeaker forms sound in a room. The goal is a solution in which driver proportions, wavelengths, directivity, enclosure design and crossover implementation form a unified acoustic whole.

We offer design and prototype services for loudspeaker manufacturers, audio companies and other operators who need a partner for developing a new loudspeaker product, technical concept or acoustic solution. Acoustic Concept Development

A good loudspeaker is not created merely from high-quality components. What matters is how the components work together as an acoustic radiator system. The key principles in ALD’s design work are Wave-Length Reasoning, controlled directivity and increasing the amount of direct sound reaching the listening position.

We help define the acoustic foundation of the loudspeaker: what kind of directivity pattern is desired for the product, how it behaves in a room, what kind of listening experience is being pursued and which technical solutions are needed to achieve that goal. This stage is especially important when the aim is to develop a product that is not based on the conventional “drivers in a box with a crossover added afterwards” approach.

Prototype Development

A prototype is the stage where design theory meets reality. ALD helps turn an acoustic concept into a measurable and listenable whole. In prototype development, we can assist in selecting a waveguide suitable for the concept, study enclosure damping, the operation of resistance enclosures, driver placement, crossover frequencies and directivity control.

Measurements are an important part of the process, but the final evaluation is always also made through listening. A loudspeaker must work both according to measurement equipment and according to music. The goal is a prototype whose technical operation is understandable, repeatable and ready to be developed further towards production.

Collaboration with Audio Industry Operators

ALD works with manufacturers, brands, importers, designers and other operators in the audio industry. The form of collaboration can range from a broad product development project to a more limited expert role as part of existing development work.

We do not approach loudspeaker design through mysticism, imagery or the marketing of components alone. Our design work is based on physics, measurements and listening. When the acoustic foundation is solid, the need for electrical correction is reduced and the sound of the loudspeaker remains more natural, open and convincing.
